I am a second-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Tulane University, advised by Dr. Aron Culotta. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Grinnell College, where I double-majored in Computer Science and Political Science with a concentration in Statistics. At Grinnell, under the mentorship of Professor Peter-Michael Osera and Professor Gemma Sala, my academic journey was marked by both rigorous coursework and research experiences focused on the intersection of technology and societal impact.
My research has taken me across institutions and disciplines. At Purdue University, I worked with Large Language Models to analyze and generate synthetic samples of demographic-specific responses, examining how technology relates to language and social dynamics. At the University of North Texas, I contributed to a deep learning project in high-energy physics, applying variational autoencoders for particle identification. These experiences have expanded my technical skills and understanding of AI’s applications in scientific research.
A high school project first sparked my interest in the ethical implications of AI in legal systems. This interest has guided my academic path since. I want to make sure that AI development follows ethical principles and supports social good. My goal is to build AI tools that promote fairness and privacy, using the power of artificial intelligence responsibly. As I continue my Ph.D., I plan to work at the overlap of computer science, law, and society, drawing on my background to tackle important questions.
Outside of academia, tennis is a big part of my life. I enjoy playing for fun and following the professional circuit closely. I’m drawn to players who show creativity and grit: Su-wei Hsieh, whose inventive and unpredictable style is always fun to watch; Venus Williams, whose groundbreaking career and strength continue to inspire me; Diego Schwartzman, who proves that determination and smart strategy matter more than height; and Rafael Nadal, whose dominance on clay and tireless work ethic show what dedication can achieve.
I’m also a cinephile and a proud AMC A-Lister, regularly watching new releases. Movies give me a look into different cultures, experiences, and ways of thinking.
At home, my dog Brûlée adds simple joy to my day. Whether we’re on a walk or just hanging out, she reminds me to appreciate balance and the small things that matter.
